Getting Started

SightScan is a Chrome extension that provides comprehensive analysis of Solana tokens. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, and you'll be able to analyze any Solana token with a single click.

1. Install SightScan from Chrome Web Store
2. Navigate to any Solana token page
3. Click the SightScan icon to analyze

Core Concepts

Holder Analysis

Holder analysis examines the distribution of tokens across wallets. This includes metrics like holder concentration, top holder percentages, and distribution curves. High concentration may indicate potential manipulation risks.

• Top Holder Percentage: Percentage of supply held by largest wallets

• Holder Concentration: Gini coefficient measuring distribution inequality

• Active Holders: Number of wallets with recent activity

• Distribution Curve: Visual representation of token spread

Tokenomics Analysis

Tokenomics analysis evaluates the economic structure of a token, including supply mechanisms, distribution schedules, vesting periods, and allocation percentages. Understanding tokenomics helps assess long-term value potential.

• Total Supply: Maximum and current token supply

• Distribution Schedule: How tokens are allocated over time

• Vesting Periods: Lock-up schedules for different allocations

• Allocation Breakdown: Percentage distribution across categories

Security Assessment

Security assessment checks for common vulnerabilities and risks in Solana token contracts. This includes verification status, authority checks, and known security patterns that could compromise token value or holder funds.

• Contract Verification: Whether the contract code is verified

• Freeze Authority: Ability to freeze token accounts (risk indicator)

• Mint Authority: Ability to create new tokens (risk indicator)

• Known Vulnerabilities: Database of known security issues

How to Use

Analyzing a Token

When you encounter a Solana token address (on DEX aggregators, token pages, or social media), click the SightScan icon in your browser toolbar. The extension will automatically detect the token address and begin analysis. Results typically appear within 2-3 seconds.

Understanding Results

Results are displayed with color-coded indicators: green for low risk, yellow for moderate risk, and red for high risk. Each section provides detailed metrics and explanations. Click on any metric to see more information about what it means and why it matters.

Exporting Reports

You can export analysis reports as PDF or JSON for documentation purposes. This is useful for due diligence documentation, portfolio tracking, or sharing analysis with others.

Interpreting Metrics

Risk Score

The overall risk score (0-100) combines all analysis dimensions into a single metric. Lower scores indicate lower risk.

• 0-30: Low Risk - Token appears secure and well-structured

• 31-60: Moderate Risk - Some concerns present, review carefully

• 61-100: High Risk - Significant red flags, exercise extreme caution

Holder Concentration

High holder concentration (top 10 holders own >50% of supply) increases risk of price manipulation or rug pulls.

Security Flags

Active freeze or mint authorities allow token creators to freeze accounts or create new tokens, which can be abused. Unverified contracts cannot be audited for security issues.

Best Practices

Always Analyze Before Investing

Never invest in a token without first running a SightScan analysis. Even tokens that appear legitimate on the surface may have hidden risks in holder distribution or security configuration.

Review All Sections

Don't rely solely on the risk score. Review each section (holders, tokenomics, security) individually to understand the full picture. A token might have good security but poor tokenomics, or vice versa.

Monitor Over Time

Token metrics can change over time. Re-analyze tokens periodically, especially if holder distribution shifts significantly or if you're considering increasing your position.

Red Flags to Avoid

Tokens with active freeze/mint authorities, unverified contracts, extreme holder concentration (>80% in top 10 holders), or immediate unlock schedules should be avoided or approached with extreme caution.

Troubleshooting

Analysis Taking Too Long

If analysis takes more than 5 seconds, the Solana network may be experiencing congestion. Try again in a few moments. Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

Token Not Found

If a token address cannot be analyzed, verify the address is correct and the token exists on Solana mainnet. Some tokens may have been burned or may be on a different network.

Extension Not Working

Ensure the extension is enabled in Chrome settings. Try refreshing the page or restarting Chrome. If issues persist, reinstall the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
